Pre-MBA Course Descriptions

These classes fulfill four units each toward the foundation classes for the MBA program.

ACCT 6011: Graduate Introduction to Financial Accounting (4 units)
Pre-MBA II students only
Learn accounting concepts, principles and procedures, with a focus on the preparation of financial statements. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation and use of financial statements for decision making.

MGMT 6050: Business and Society (4 units)
Pre-MBA II students only
Investigate the relationship of business to society and government; the American legal system and legal reasoning; business law issues, antitrust policy, ethics and social responsibility; regulatory agencies, deregulation and self-regulation.

MKTG 6005: Managing Marketing: Theory and Practice (4 Units)
Explore theories, principles, concepts, practices and tools of marketing analysis. Emphasis is placed on theoretical concepts and their practical applications through marketing decision making in a simulated business environment and/or through case analysis.

Business Case Study in English
Using model business case studies, this course develops speaking, listening and reading skills for the demands of Graduate Business School where case study analysis and discussion is central to the teaching methodology.

GMAT Preparation
There are two separate courses to address the different needs of Pre-MBA I and Pre-MBA II students. GMAT Preparation I is a 50-hour, 10-week course focusing primarily on the verbal section but with tutoring available for other sections where students may need extra work. The course is supported by access as needed to state-of-the-art multimedia GMAT software in the ALP learning center. GMAT Preparation II is a 40-hour, 5-week course offered to students who need an introduction and exposure to the GMAT without special emphasis on specific skills.

TOEFL Preparation
This course is an intensive overview of advanced vocabulary, reading, grammar, listening and essay writing, designed to assist you to improve your TOEFL test score for admission to an MBA program at CSUEB or another campus.
