OAA Position No. 08-09 CSD-LANGDISORDERS-TT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders is one of 23 departments and programs within the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. It has a three-dimensional mission of teaching, research, and service in speech, language, and hearing. The Department has approximately 60 undergraduate and 70 graduate majors, four full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty, and two speech-language pathologists who are responsible for the management of our Clinic. The Clinic facilities include seven observable individual and group therapy rooms, one large group room, an aphasia treatment center, numerous study areas, a conference room, audiology facilities, and a speech science laboratory. The Department is certified by ASHA’s Council on Academic Accreditation in speech-language pathology and is authorized to grant the Rehabilitative Services Credential approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Teach basic and advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in speech-language pathology, with expertise in child language development and disorders, and/or phonological development and disorders and an interest in augmentative and alternative communication. Supervision of student clinicians in an established clinical program both on campus and in off-campus settings is also required. In addition to teaching, all faculty conduct an active program of research, have advising responsibilities, assist the Department with administrative and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at both the Hayward and Concord campuses. RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience, subject to budgetary authorization. DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Quarter, 2008. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must possess a doctorate degree by the effective date of appointment with CCC-SLP, (to be completed within 24 months of hire), and eligibility for the California license as a speech-language pathologist. Preference will be given to persons with a Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology and a strong interest/background in the clinical supervisory process. Teaching experience and an interest in sustained research and grant writing is highly preferred. OAA Position No. 08-09 CRJA-LAW/INVEST-TT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Criminal Justice Administration offers an undergraduate program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. The department also offers a minor in Criminal Justice Administration. Established in 1976, the major has grown to over 450 majors and 80 minors. Criminal justice experience, demonstrated teaching excellence (teaching experience at the university level), strong research accomplishments/potential and promise of scholarly achievement preferred. Classroom teaching experience and promise of scholarly achievement are desirable. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness and ability to teach, advise, and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
