UNIVERSITY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

1. Develop and sustain rich academic programs that meet student and regional needs and are recognized for their excellence in teaching, learning, research, and service.
- Provide high quality student centered degree programs that prepare graduates to be constructive contributors to society
- Support a professional culture in which excellence in teaching, student learning, scholarship, research, professional development, and community service are valued
- Provide quality information services in support of academic programs for 21 st Century learning
- Develop and institute comprehensive strategies that address lifelong learning, continuing education, and emerging technologies to enhance teaching and student learning
2. Provide opportunities for all students to be successful in their university experience
and lives.
- Provide clear curricula pathways, advising, and student support services to ensure student success and improve student retention
- Provide a university environment that is healthy, safe, and secure
3. Provide a stimulating university climate that is welcoming, diverse, and inclusive, and fosters multicultural learning experiences.
- Provide and sustain programs that integrate multicultural issues into the curriculum and co-curriculum
- Promote the recruitment and retention of diverse high quality faculty, staff, and students
- Achieve clear communication among and active engagement of faculty, staff, and students in the life of the university
- Provide structures and processes for introducing newcomers (students, faculty, and staff) to the university
- Promote dynamic student life and co-curricular activities on the Hayward and Concord Campuses
4. Establish Cal State East Bay as a regional comprehensive university of choice.
- Develop and provide degree and co-curricular programs on the Hayward and Concord Campuses that meet the needs of the communities they serve
- Systematically increase student enrollment based on a comprehensive enrollment management plan
- Sustain and deepen CSUEB community connections and cultivate new partnerships in order to provide services to and educational opportunities for our region and our students
- Initiate and sustain close relationships between the university and its students, faculty, staff, alumni and the external community
5. Develop and maintain an effective and responsive fiscal, administrative, physical, and technological environment that supports the university mission, and encourage increased and sustained support from alumni, friends, and the community.
- Ensure that faculty and staff have access to professional development opportunities
- Align and continually assess planning and budgeting processes to ensure improvement in meeting the University Mission
- Provide high quality, secure information systems and technologies that meet the needs of our faculty, staff, and students
- Increase external and private support for departments and academic and cultural programs
- Provide the university community with well maintained facilities and grounds
