The Early Start Program aims to better prepare new students in mathematics and English in the summer before the fall semester. The program helps prepare students academically and improves their likelihood of successfully completing a college degree.
Freshman admitted to Cal State East Bay who must participate in the CSU Early Start program will be notified in April. Students can complete the Early Start program at Cal State East Bay or at another CSU location.
Cal State East Bay offers a two-week online Early Start math class. Cal State East Bay's three-week Early Start English class is not online; it is offered in a traditional classroom format at the Hayward or Concord Campus.
The cost of one Early Start course is $182. There may also be fees for campus parking and course materials. California residents who apply for financial aid and have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $5,000 or less will receive a waiver of the course registration fee. Course materials and parking are not covered by the waiver.
