Kim Geron: Transfer APASS Principal Investigator and Project Director

Dr. Geron has completed his responsibilities for the SSOS program as Retention Coordinator as this five-year grant ended in 2017.  He is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) for the newly created Transfer Asian Pacific American Student Services program at CSU East Bay, a five year Department of Education funded grant as part of our campus AANAPISI status.

He is a professor in the CSUEB Political Science Department. He teaches courses in public budgeting, public personnel management, bureaucratic politics and administrative law, and public policy analysis courses in labor and immigration law. He co-authored The Snake Dance of Asian American activism: Community, Vision, and Power. Professor Geron has also published articles on Asian American politics in journals and book chapters.

Meiling Wu: Co-Principal Investigator and Project Director

Dr. Meiling Wu was the Principal Investigator and Director of Program SSOS – Student Service Operation for Success at CSUEB, a five-year, 1.85M, U.S. Department of Education AANAPISI Grant.  In 2015, she received her AANAPISI Part A proposal received a new award of a five-year 1.5M grant.  In 2016, she was again awarded another AANAPSIS Part F grant of 1.75M for Transfer APASS (Transfer Asian Pacific American Student Success).  She is the PI and PD of Pashto and Dari Programs at CSUEB in 2010, a CSU Strategic Language Institute, sponsored by U.S. Department of Defense and the PI of the grants from Japan Foundation since 2015.

        Dr. Wu is the Chair and Professor of the Department of Modern Languages and Literature (MLL) and was the department summer Chair and the co-chair of Asian/ Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Association at CSUEB from 2006-2010.  Dr. Wu serves on many faculty governance committees at CSUEB, including the Executive Committee (ExCom) of Academic Senate, Chairing the Committee on Budget and Resource Allocation (COBRA 2011-13), and is currently serving the Committee on Academic Planning and Review (CAPR).  She served CSU Academic Council on International Programs, the Selection Committee for California Pre-Doctoral Program and Chaired Mandarin Lower Division Transfer Programs for the Office of Chancellor.
