Digital Proficiency Test

This Digital Proficiency Test covers the fundamentals of computer applications. It focuses on the basics of word processing in Microsoft Word, using complex spreadsheets for data analyses in Microsoft Excel, developing professional business presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, and an introduction of data and database management in Microsoft Access. No study guide is available, however any Microsoft Office 2010 guide such as "MS Office Introductory" or "Office 2010 Simplified" will contain the same principles covered in the test.

  • Test is generally offered on the Friday of the 4th week of the quarter. The upcoming test dates are as follows:
    • Fall 2017:  Friday, October 20, 2017
    • Winter 2018: Friday, January 26, 2018
    • Spring 2018: Friday, April 20, 2018
  • CSUEB Bay Card is required as ID (No other form of ID is accepted, NO EXCEPTIONS)
  • 50 questions - multiple choice & true/false (scantrons and pencils will be provided)
  • 90 minutes with no breaks
  • $15 non-refundable fee that will be posted to your student account on MyCSUEB
  • Pass/No Pass only
  • Students are only permitted 2 attempts
  • Test is non-transferable
  • Passing requires 35 out of 50 (70%)
  • Passing satisfies the ITM 1270 requirement
  • Results will be sent the following Monday to your CSUEB Horizon email

To register:

  • Go to BaySync and login using your Net ID and password
  • If you have not joined our portal, search for CBE
  • Select CBE Office of Undergraduate Advising and click on "Join Now"
  • Visit our Events Page and RSVP for a test date
  • No Drop-ins will be allowed
