Filing for Graduation
Undergraduate Students
At least two quarters before your
intended graduation date, you should:
- Seek advising from the University Advisement
Center (located at SSH 1131) for your General
Education and General Requirements.
- Seek major advising from your major
departmentand to confirm that your option, concentration or minor is recorded on your academic record.
Graduate Students
Seek advising from your respective program advisor or major department.
Steps for Filing for Graduation:
- Log in to MyCSUEB with you NetID and password. Under “Student Center ”, use the “Apply for Graduation” link and follow the prompts to select the degree and term for your graduation.
- The filing fee will be added to your student account, and you may make the payment:
• Online at MyCSUEB
• Hayward Hills campus: Cashier in the Student Information Lobby, Warren Hall
• Concord campus: Academic Services Lobby
- Refer to the current Class Schedule for the deadlines to file and pay for graduation.
- Enrollment Priority:
Undergraduates:
To enroll as a GRADUATING SENIOR, you must have earned 150 units or more,
have filed for Graduation, and have paid the graduation fee.
Graduates (Students in a Masters Program):
To register as a Graduating Graduate Student, you should must be a "Classified Graduate" who is
recommended for Advancement to Candidacy by your
advisor and have made substantial progress towards your degree. See "What is 'Candidacy'?" in the University Catalog.
It is advisable you consult with your major department to verify eligibility for filing for graduation.

Filing for Graduation -- Frequently Asked Questions
1. How will my major or minor department be notified that I filed for graduation?
A: It is your responsibility to
inform your major and minor departments that you have filed for graduation.
The departments will then begin the major and minor check process.
2. If I forget to pay for graduation, will I receive notification that my graduation has been cancelled?
A: Yes, through your Horizon e-mail account.
3. If I don't finish all my degree requirements in the term in which I filed, what do I do?
A: Once you file for graduation, it is good for three quarters after the term in which you filed. However,
in order to be able to enroll for courses after the term in which you filed, you must
send an e-mail from your Horizon account to
reg@csueastbay.edu requesting an update of
your graduation
to a future quarter. After the third term, you
would need to request that your graduation be cancelled, and
you will have to submit a new application
for graduation.
4. What name will appear on my diploma once I graduate?
A: The name on record with the University. If you wish to request an official name change, please download and submit
the
Personal Data Change form with appropriate documentation. The form has detailed instructions.
5. Where will my diploma be mailed?
A: To your permanent address on file with the University. You may change your permanent address yourself in MyCSUEB.
