Dr. Jagdish Agrawal was appointed Dean of the College of Business and Economics in July 2013.
Dean Agrawal received his MBA and Ph.D. in Marketing from the State University New York at Buffalo. He joined Cal State East Bay as an assistant professor of marketing in Fall 1991 and became a full professor in Fall 2000. He has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in marketing in various domestic and international programs for the College of Business and Economics (CBE). Since September 2007, he has held the positions of chair of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, director of undergraduate programs, and associate dean of the CBE. He was appointed interim dean of the college in July 2012.
Dean Agrawal’s goal is that the College of Business and Economics be known for its outstanding academic programs involving experiential learning, innovative curriculum, and internships and job opportunities in industry. He is committed to helping students meet their career goals and contributing to the local, regional and global economy. He envisions an education in business and economics that broadly educates students to work collaboratively, ethically and effectively in the diverse culture and global economy of today and tomorrow. He understands that, among other things, recruiting and supporting high quality faculty and staff are critical tasks in meeting these goals.
