Kathleen Rountree joined Cal State East Bay as Interim Dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences in July. Dr. Rountree’s previous experience includes more than 15 years as a faculty member and administrator, at institutions including Ithaca College, the University of North Carolina Greensboro, the University of Northern Colorado, and LSU.

A musician by discipline, she has performed and presented workshops across the United States as well as in Europe and Asia, and has published in the leading journals of her field. Her scholarship includes a CD of music for flute and piano and the editing of two anthologies of piano music by Mendelssohn and Chopin.
She has been a featured presenter at national conferences in higher education including the American Association of Higher Education, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences.
She is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the National Council on Research and the Executive Board of the Council of Fellows program of the American Council on Education.
