Professional Focus

Mr. Smith is an expert in public health law and focuses on problems in jurisprudence and ethics in public health law. He is particularly interested in ethical and legal issues in the distribution of health inequalities in societies and has a growing interest in climate change and public health law. He is also interested the history of public health in the United States. He has worked on public health law problems in obesity and food policy; school bullying; and health disparities facing East Asian communities. He is the Chair of the Law Section of the American Public Health Association.
