We've strived to make this online catalog simple and intuitive so that you can easily and quickly locate the information you need. This page is your reference to the conventions and standards used throughout the pages of the online catalog.

Navigating Within the Catalog

At the beginning of many pages, we've provided "Quick Look" links and "Quick Jump" links. Use the Quick Look links to see all the topics on the page, and to go directly to any topic by clicking its text. The Quick Jump buttons provide convenient links to other useful pages of the online catalog. These button icons may include the following: (Note that not all buttons may appear on all pages.)

	Home - takes you to the main CSUH home page. The icon, located at the top of every catalog page, also takes you to the main CSU home page.
	Top - takes you back to the main catalog home page (the page you load when you click the catalog icon on the main CSUH home page).
	Reply - takes you to the feedback page, where you can send e-mail to various people and departments involved in the catalog.
	Search - takes you to the search facility, where you can look for any keywords in the entire catalog.
	Help - brings you back to this page.
	Link - allows you to visit external links, such as departmental home pages, elsewhere on the web.
	Mail - allows you to send e-mail to schools, major departments, or other campus entities.

Finding What You Want

The layout of the online catalog has been arranged to give you quick access to the topics you need most -- all just a few clicks away. On the main catalog home page, you'll find links to the three major sections of the online catalog: general information, policies, and procedures; the 1996-1998 programs of study; and the 1998-2000 programs of study. Clicking on one of those links takes you to a sub-page with the table of contents for that section.

You can also easily perform a search for the information you want. Like the index of the printed catalog, the search page (whose button icon is shown above) allows you to quickly find any topic. But unlike an index, the search page is much more powerful because you have the ability to find any keyword or phrase. You can jump to the search page now.

Changes to Programs of Study

Remember, new and modified programs in the 1998-2000 Programs of Study section will take effect in Fall Quarter, 1998. However, new and modified courses in the 1998-2000 Programs of Study section take effect when they appear here in the online catalog.

To determine which programs and courses have changed in the 1998-2000 catalog since the 1996-1998 catalog, simply look for the following icons. The first two icons may be found in the 1998-2000 section, indicating that the information there is new or updated. The second two icons may be found in the 1996-1998 section, indicating that the information there has been modified in the later 1998-2000 catalog, or that the information no longer appears in the 1998-2000 catalog.

Details on Viewing the Online Catalog

Great care has been taken to ensure that this online catalog is equally accessible by both text-based and graphical browsers. However, in some instances the presentation of information may not appear correctly when using older browsers, namely those that do not support the HTML 2.0 specification and some HTML 3.0 proposals. For example, some pages utilize the <table> tag to display information in rows and columns. Browsers that do not support that tag will still display the information, but not in a row/column appearance.

If at all possible, for best results we recommend the use of the latest versions of graphical browsers such as NCSA Mosaic, Netscape, or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Nevertheless, users of Lynx and other text-based browsers are just as welcome!
