Announcing the Education Summit! A free educational event for first- generation, African American, Asian American,  Latino, Native American, and Pacific Islander Students and their families.
All are welcome to attend.

Thank you for attending this year's Education Summit!

When: Saturday, February 9, 2019; program runs from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., check-in begins at 9:00 a.m.

Where: Cal State East Bay - Hayward  Campus in the University Gymnasium, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd, Hayward, CA 94542.

Program Highlights: Learn how to prepare for college through presentations and workshops for middle and high school students. Visit the college and resource fair showcasing universities, community colleges, and support programs. Financial aid Workshops include FAFSA and Dream Act application tips. Lunch will be provided.

Visitors: If you were unable to register for this event, contact the Welcome Center  at 510-885-2556 to schedule an information session and campus tour at another date.

Guided Campus Tours

At the Education Summit 2019, guided tours of campus (bilingual/bilingüe) will be offered.  If you are unable to attend this event, individual and group tours of campus are offered by appointment on weekdays and some Saturdays at the Welcome Center.  Call (510) 885-2556 to schedule a tour.

Transportation and Parking

Transportation: Cal State East Bay is accessible by major freeways and public transit. Visit Driving Directions and Public Transportation for details. 

Parking Information: Free parking is available in all lots. The closest parking lots to the University Gymnasium are Lots A, B, M, L and K. See Campus map for locations.

Free Shuttles: Free Cal State East Bay shuttles serve the Downtown Hayward BART station to campus. Shuttles pick up guests every 15 min. beginning at 8:00 a.m. Throughout the day, shuttles pick up guests in front of the Gymnasium (until 1:25 p.m. only) and in front of the Recreation and Wellness Center to return visitors to Downtown Hayward BART.

School Group

Information for School/Outreach Groups

For groups traveling by bus:

  • Please have your bus driver enter through Harder Road and turn left onto W. Loop Road.
  • Use the designated areas for bus unloading/loading – along W. Loop Road, near the Gymnasium where registration will take place.
  • Signs and volunteers will direct you to the event.
  • After unloading, all buses must park in Lots G-H. See Campus map for locations.
  • Upon arriving, check in at the Group Registration table near the Gymnasium entrance.
  • A limited number of bus grants will be available to student/outreach groups. Apply for consideration by submitting completed  Bus Grant Application by Jan. 14, 2019 by fax or email to the address on the form. See Frequently Asked Questions below for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no fee to attend the Education Summit. Event parking is free and a parking permit is not required.

All are welcome! The event resources and workshops are designed to support all First-Generation, African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander Students and Families. 

For school and outreach groups, please register all attendees. First, enter the name and contact information for the group leader and indicate the total number of attendees in your group. Second, email a list of students attending and their email accounts to and we will add them to the registration list. When you attend the event, have the leader of the group sign in at the Group Registration table.

To be considered  for a bus grant for a school or outreach group, you must fill out two forms; the Bus Grant Application and the Vendor Data Record. 

  1. Before the event, follow the detailed instructions on the Bus Grant Application, and submit the application form via fax or email by Jan. 14, 2019 for award consideration. You will be notified by email by Jan. 18 if you will receive an award. Attend the event with your group and be sure to check in at the Group Registration table.

  2. After the event, submit the required paperwork (the Bus Grant form and the Vendor Data Record) with your invoice, following all guidelines on the forms. Submit them no later than March 31, 2019 in order for the grant award to be processed. If awarded, the bus grant will pay up to a maximum of $250.00.  See application for details.
