Water and Waste

Water

The campus is working hard to reduce its use of potable water. The following efficiency updates are being implemented or planned for in the near future:

  • Replacement of old and broken irrigation heads and piping
  • Addition of irrigation meters at 42 locations around campus. This is a current project. In addition older, back-flow devices are being replaced to bring them up to current code.
  • Renovation and removal of some turf areas to plant more appropriate drought tolerant native species.

Waste and Recycling

Facilities is currently looking at making the campus recycling program more visible to students, staff, and faculty. Our goal is to raise our rate of waste diversion, while making it easier for students, faculty and staff to recycle and reuse.

Stay tuned to new developments as we complete an evaluation of the campus waste stream to see if it can become more recycle-friendly while continuing to reduce our waste that goes to landfill.

Updates about this project can be found here, as decisions are made.
