Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP)

Through its membership in the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP), Cal State East Bay permits eligible full-time graduate students in 14 western states to enroll at a reduced rate of tuition and fees. If approved for participation, students will be charged the regular tuition and fee rate of California resident graduate students.

Masters degree programs approved for the WRGP reduced fee are as follows:

Master of Science, Recreation and Tourism (offered online only)

Master of Arts, Multimedia (offered on campus only)

WRGP Tuition Fees

The estimated tuition and fees for the Western Regional Graduate Program are listed as follows:

Online Program For 0 to 6.0 units: $1,397 per quarter. For 6.1 or more units: $2,341 per quarter.

On the Hayward Campus For 0 to 6.0 units: $1,589 per quarter. For 6.1 or more units: $2,533 per quarter.

*Based on 2011-2012 tuition and fees for graduate program enrollment. Other expenses may vary. Amounts are subject to change without advance notification. Student must be admitted to the university and submit the WRGP Participation Agreement Form to determine program eligibility.

Eligibility for WRGP students

Graduate students with residency in an eligible Western states must complete and submit the WRGP Participation Request Form (pdf). Residents from the following Western states may qualify:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • North Dakota
  • Oregon
  • South Dakota
  • U.S. Pacific Territories & Freely Associated States
  • Utah
  • Washington
  • Wyoming

How to Apply

To be considered for the WRGP:

Step 1: Apply for admission[1] to Cal State East Bay.

Step 2: Submit a WRGP Participation Request Form (pdf).

You must apply for admission to Cal State East Bay before submitting your WRGP Participation Agreement Form. If you are admitted to Cal State East Bay as graduate student with legal residency in a WRGP participating state, you will be notified of your eligibility to apply for the program. Notification of approval for the WRGP program will be sent separately from any letters regarding your university admission sent by the Office of Admission.

Graduate students must be admitted to their graduate program as well as the university. Some graduate programs may have earlier application deadlines than the university application deadlines shown in the above table, and may also require supplemental application materials. Some graduate programs do not accept applications every quarter. Check with the department or graduate program to which you are applying for complete details.
