Ancient World

Go back in time and explore the foundations of the modern world through art, literature, and history. Increase your cultural awareness as we study the commonality and diversity of human experience.

The three discipline courses are:

History 1017- Area C3 - World Civilizations I - To ca. 800 Neolithic revolution. River Valley civilizations: Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, China, Ancient Hebrews. The Mediterranean: Hellenic, Hellenistic, and Roman civilizations. Emergence and spread of Christianity and Islam. Gupta India.

Theatre 1014 - Area C1

English 1014 -Area C2 - Ancient Literature - Readings in translation of literature of ancient world, including the cultures of the Middle East, Mediterranean, and Asia. Poetry, drama, and other genres written 1000 BC-800 AD.

History is offered in the Fall; Theatre is offered in the Winter; and English is offered in the Spring.
