Individual & Society
"Who am I? How did society shape me? How will I fit into society - or change it? How do politics and society shape each other in the U.S. and in other countries?" Explore the answers offered by psychology, sociology, and political science. The three discipline courses are: Psychology 1001- General Psychology - An introduction to the scientific study of basic processes underlying human and animal behavior; sensation and perception, learning and thinking, motivation, and emotion. Sociology 1002 -Introduction to Sociology of Individual and Society - Introductory analysis of (a) the structure and functioning of human groups and (b) interrelations between groups emphasizing influences on the individual: changes in (a) and (b). (Number change in Spring 2001 was formerly Sociology 1000-02) Political Science 1000-02 -Introduction to Political Science - Introduction to the study of politics and government, surveying the concepts and approaches of political science. Psychology is offered in the Fall; Sociology is offered in the Winter and Spring; and Political Science is offered in the Winter and Spring.
