Bolded courses are offered in Winter 2008. Although not part of the GE program, this requirement in US History, US Constitution, and California state and local govement, should be completed in the first or the second year. Completing the U.S. History, U.S. Constitution, and California state and local government requirement can be done with one course from the First Category and one course from the Second Category.
Transfer students who may have only partially completed the Code requirement before entering Cal State East Bay should go to either the History Department or the Political Science Department on the Hayward campus to find out what remaining course(s) is(are) required. Official Code examinations may be substituted for the three components of the requirement: U.S. History, U.S. Constitution, and California state and local government. These tests are given by the Testing Office. Students may fulfill the U.S. History
and U.S. Constitution requirements with a score of 3 or above
on the Advanced Placement test in U.S.
History or with a score of 3 or above on the Advanced Placement test
in American Government and Politics. These students still need to complete the
California state and local government requirement with a Second Category
course or the appropriate examination. Updated
