Coping with Environmental Stressors People today deal with stressors from a myriad of sources: human relationships, work, illness, etc. The natural world is a source of human stress as well. This cluster deals with degradation of the natural environment and natural disasters as categories of stressors. The three discipline courses are: Health Science 2001- Environmental Factors in Health - Ecological principles applied to interactions between human and environmental systems and how each affects the ehalth of the other. Strategies for preventing and managing environmental crises. Students may not receive credit for both HSC 2001 and 3200. Geology 2300 - Natural Disasters - Geologic processes and their effects on human populations. Topics include earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, costal erosion, floods, atomospheric and water pollution. Not for geology major credit. Psychology 2420 - Stress and Coping - Survey of theories and research about stress and coping; applications, e.g. illness, death/dying, the working place, and natural disasters. Cannot be used to satisfy a psychology major requirement. Students may not receive credit for both Psychology 2420 and 3420.
