Area A
Area A courses develop an effective understanding
and use of written and spoken forms of communication; to encourage
critical
thoughts and expression. Students are encouraged to have Area A completed
before reaching the second year.
Courses that are bolded are offered
in the Winter Quarter 2009.
Area A courses would include:
- A1 = Oral Communication: Select
one Communication 1000, 1004, 4183 (4 units) , 4350
- A2 = Written Communication: English 1001 (4 units) (You must meet the EPT requirements to enroll. For
remedial breakdown click here. NOTE: English 1001 must be passed with
a C- (CR) or better to satisfy GE Area A2
- A3 = Critical Thinking: Select
one of PHIL 1000, 1001, 3010 (effective Spring 2002); PSYC 1100
SECOND COMPOSITION COURSE
ENGL 1002 or, for transfer students who may have completed a second English
composition course in some other area of the G.E. program (for example, A3
or C2), an additional course from any of the above lists providing it is not
in your major department.
