Area B

Area B- Natural Sciences (12 units minimum) - Bolded classes are offered in Winter 2009. (See schedule of classes for complete course offerings.)

B1. One course in physical science (4 units minimum). Select any course from the following departments:

• Chemistry
• Geology
• Marine Sciences (any course offered through Geological Sciences)
• Physics

B2. One course in life science (4 units minimum). Select any course from the following departments:

• Anthropology: 1100
• Biological Sciences (any course except 4820, 4825),
• KPE 1625
• Marine Sciences (any course offered through Biological Sciences),
• Psychology (any course except 1100, 1300, 3413).
• Health Science: 2001, 2500
• Science: 1005

B5. One science elective course.

• Select any course listed in B1 and B2. This course must have sufficient units to bring the Area B total to 16 units. Regardless of the unit total, a student must have 4 courses in Area B.
• Engineering: 2060

* Approved for Fall 2008 only

Note: One course that involves some immediate participation in laboratory activity is required in Area B. This requirement is satisfied simultaneously with B1, B2, or B3.

Only one psychology course may be applied to Area B. (An additional one, however, may be applied to Area D; see below.)
