Network Authentication Gateway (NAG) FAQ
What is Network Authentication Gateway (NAG)?
It is simply an authentication device that allows access to the network.
How do I authenticate or login?
Bring up a web browser like Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla or any
other web browser. The gateway will automatically redirect the URL (any
URL that point to the internet) to the login page. Simply enter your student
"NetID" in the "username" field and password on the
left window and click the "Login" button.
I haven't logged in yet, but I already have access to
my E-mail on Horizon, why?
Accessing E-mail on Horizon does not require you to login to the gateway.
However, links within your email that point to the Internet will automatically
be redirected to the NAG login page.
I haven't logged in yet, but I already have access to
the www.csueastbay.edu web page,
why?
Accessing www.csueastbay.edu does
not require you to login. However, links within the site that point to
the Internet will automatically be redirected to the login page. Upon
successful login, the previous link that brought up the login page, will
be displayed on the browser.
I can't connect to my ICQ or Net Messenger, why?
You must authenticate or login first by bringing up a web browser before
you can access ICQ or Net Messenger.
I can't Telnet, FTP, PING, run any sharing program or
anything, why?
You must authenticate or login first.
Why do I keep getting "invalid username or password"?
Test your NetID and password by logging into your Horizon E-mail account.
If you can't login to your E-mail, refer to the online support documentation
located at:
http://www.csueastbay.edu/ics/helpdesk/HDHorizonFAQS.html
Why do I still keep getting "invalid username or
password" even though I can access my Horizon E-mail account?
You may still be logged-in from another computer. If so, first log
out from the computer in which you first logged in and try logging in
again. If you continue to get "invalid username or password"
shutdown your computer, wait for 5 minutes and turn it back on again.
If this does not work, call the Help Desk at 885-HELP(4357) for further
instructions.
When I bring up my browser, I get a blank page. How do I get the login
screen?
Go to the following URL address:
If you are located at the Pioneer Heights, go to http://blueph.csueastbay.edu.
If you are located at the Library, go to http://blueli1.csueastbay.edu.
From there, you should get a login prompt. You can also point your browser
to any Internet site and you will be redirected to the login screen.
Do I have to login if I just need to read my Horizon E-mail?
No. But there may be links inside your E-mail that will bring up the login
page automatically in which case, you may need to login to view the link.
When I bring up my web browser, why do I get "The page cannot
be displayed"?
Point your browser to http://blueph.csueastbay.edu
(for Pioneer Heights) or http://blueli1.csueastbay.edu
(for Library) and you should get a login prompt.
If you still get "The page cannot be displayed", if you're on
a wired network, check to make sure your network card has a cable to connected
to the outlet and a link light is on. If you're on a wireless network
in the library, make sure that the Wireless NIC card is properly installed.
If you still get the "The page cannot be displayed", clear your
browser's cache. If you continue to get this error call the Help Desk
at 885-HELP(4357).
I don't know my Horizon NetID and password?
From the NAG login page, click on the link that says: "Click here
to activate Horizon account". This will take you to the activation
page where you can obtain your NetID and password that you can use to
login to the Network Authentication Gateway.
