VOICE MAIL SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS

 

When you access your voice mailbox for the first time, you will be prompted by the set-up assistant to enter/record certain information, i.e., your initial security code, a new security code, your name and your personal greeting.

 

Please listen carefully to the prompts. They are easy to follow and you should be able to navigate through your voice mailbox with little trouble. There are a few key things to remember.

 

Voicemail Access Number:    (510) 885-7020

Mailbox Number:                    Your 5-Digit Extension

Initial Security Code:              00000

(New Security Codes can be from 5 to 15 digits.)

 

The * key allows you to go back to the previous menu. If you are at the MAIN SUBSCRIBER MENU, the * key will exit you from your voice mailbox.
If you get lost in your box, press * until you hear the system say, Thank you for calling.

TO ACCESS VOICE MAIL FROM YOUR OFFICE TELEPHONE

Press the Voice Mail Button (multi-line phones), or Press *5 (single-line phones)
Enter security code 00000
Listen to the prompts to set up your mailbox

 

SECURITY CODE: (your initial security code is 00000)

The set-up assistant will prompt you to enter a new security code
Enter your new security code followed by the # key (enter 5 -15 digits)
You will be prompted to confirm your new security code followed by the # key

 

NAME ANNOUNCEMENT: (callers will hear this name for your mailbox)

The set-up assistant will prompt you to record your name
Press 2 to start Recording
Press 2 to stop Recording
Press 5 to Save
Press 6 to Review
Press 4 to Discard and Re-record

 

PERSONAL GREETING: (this will be the message callers will hear)


The set-up assistant will prompt you to record your message/greeting
Press 2 to start Recording
Press 2 to stop Recording
Press 5 to Save
Press 6 to Review
Press 4 to Discard and Re-record

 


FOR CHANGING ANY OF THE ABOVE AFTER COMPLETING THE INITIAL SET-UP:



TO ACCESS VOICE MAIL FROM YOUR OFFICE TELEPHONE

Press the Voice Mail Button (multi-line phones), or Press *5 (single-line phones)

Enter your security code


LISTEN TO MESSAGES:

Press 1

Press 1 for Unread Messages

Press 2 for All Messages (only read messages, not saved ones)

Press 5 for Saved Messages

Press # to Skip to Next Message

CHANGE SECURITY CODE:

Press 4 for Phone Manager Functions

Press 1 for Personal Options

Press 4 to Change Security Code

Enter new Security Code followed by the # key


CHANGE YOUR NAME:

Press 4 for Phone Manager Functions

Press 1 for Personal Options

Press 5 to Record Your Name

Press 2 to Start Recording

Press 2 to Stop Recording

Press 5 to Save

Press 6 to Review

Press 4 to Discard

 

CHANGE PERSONAL GREETING:

Press 4 for Phone Manager Functions

Press 1 for Personal Options

Press 3 for Personal Greeting Options

Press 2 for Normal Greeting (this is your Personal Greeting)

Press 2 to Start Recording

Press 2 to Stop Recording

Press 5 to Save

Press 6 to Review

Press 4 to Discard

EXIT: Press the * key until Attendant says, Thank you for calling.

 

TO ACCESS VOICE MAIL REMOTELY(from off-campus or an on-campus phone other than your own)
To access Voice Mail from another on-campus telephone, dial 5-7020
To access Voice Mail from off-campus, dial (510) 885-7020
You will be prompted, To enter your mailbox, press #.
Enter your mailbox number (your telephone extension)

Enter your security code
