Eligibility Letter
Below is a copy of the email sent to students informing them
of their eligibility and how to proceed with getting their computer.
July 6, 2006

California State University, East Bay has a pool of laptop loaner
computers for undergraduate students who qualify under the Laptop
Loaner Program and have need of a computer. Qualifications for the
program include enrollment in a minimum number of courses requiring
computer access after class hours (to be determined each quarter)
and a specific level of financial aid need. You currently meet the
eligibility criteria for a laptop loaner for «Quarter_Name_Full».
The program consists of the following:
- Use of a laptop computer «Quarter_Name_Full». Computers
are available on a first come basis.
- Use of suitable software preloaded on the laptop computer.
- Routine maintenance on the laptop for preloaded software and
hardware problems.
- Use of a Cisco Haywire internet/email account.

this notice and allow the device to be used by a student who
may not receive one if you borrow the device. |
If you wish to participate in the program:
- Call 885-4152 to make an appointment. Appointments are
available starting on «Start_Date». Walk-ins will
NOT be processed.
- Plan on spending approximately 30 minutes checking out your
laptop.
- Come to the Student Technology Service Center in Library Learning
Commons (LI2005) at your scheduled appointment time to pick up
your computer. If you miss your scheduled appointment you will
have to reschedule for a later time.
| Print this email and bring it with you along with
your current Student ID card (w/net id), and your California
drivers license or California identification card with
you to the appointment. We cannot process your laptop without
the above identification. |
Things to be aware of if you decide to participate in this
program:
- Laptops must be returned no later than 4:30PM on Friday, «End_Date».
- If the laptop and all components are not returned by the above
date and time, you will be held liable for replacement charges,
late charges, and a hold will be placed on your school records.
- If the laptop or any of the additional equipment is returned
damaged you may be charged a replacement or repair charge.
- Your CISCO account will expire at the end of the «Academic_Year»
Academic Year.
- Final eligibility will be verified at the end of regular add/drop
period. Dropping courses that require computer access could result
in loss of eligibility and immediate recall of the laptop.
- Eligibility may be revoked at anytime, if you add/drop
courses that make you ineligible.
CSU, East Bay hopes that this student service will enhance your
academic performance and provide computing opportunities that you
may not otherwise be able to obtain. If you have any questions regarding
your eligibility or require additional information about the program,
or have questions about picking up your laptop, please call the
STSC at 885-4152. More specific information will be given to you
when you obtain your laptop loaner. Questions about picking up your
laptop may be directed to the Student Technology Service Center
