The web based email system for CSUH
students provides 10MB of email storage, access to mail from the web. For more detailed help, select HELP from
the Horizon page.
- To access your Horizon email account, launch your
Internet browser and go to: http://horizon.csuhayward.edu. From this page, you can activate your
Horizon account, access your Horizon webmail, and access the Horizon
online User Guide. In order to use
your Horizon account, you must first activate it and obtain your NetID. Your NetID is a randomly
assigned number/letter combination, i.e., aa7234, that you will use to
access your Horizon account.
- Select the link: First—Activate your Horizon
Account.

- Fill in the requested
information. If you are authorized
to receive an account, the results page will display your login ID and
password. Once you have retrieved
your ID, known as NetID, and password, you can log into Horizon to access
your WebMail.

–Note: When you log into your account, you will use
your NetID, not your email ID or Student ID..
If you lose your password, it must be reset by the Supervisor on duty in
the STSC Warren Hall lab. For security
reasons, you will need to present your CSUH ID card and know your NetID to have
your password reset. If you forget your
NetID, you can retrieve your ID on this activation page. However, your password must be manually reset
in the STSC.
- Go
to: http://horizon.csuhayward.edu. Select the link for WebMail.

- Bookmark
this page.

- Enter
the NetID you received from the Horizon Activation page
along with the password you were issued on the activation
page. Use the NetID (aa7234) not your email address.
- Once logged in, you
will go directly to your Inbox.
From this window, you can access:
Folders: view all folders
associated to your Horizon account.
Options: allows you to
configure your personal information
Get Mail: retrieves your
Horizon mail
Compose Mail: composes email for sending
Search: allows you to search for email in your folders
Delete Mail: moves mail to
trash and deletes it
Collect External Mail: allows
you to pull mail from another POP account.

8. To Collect External Mail,
you will need to know the host name of the server, your login ID for that
server and the password for that account.
This function will collect mail from the INBOX only and will move it to
the folder specified by you on Horizon. When
configuring this option, be sure to UNCHECK the box for “delete mail from
server.” If you do not, your mail will be
deleted from the server after you collect it.
