Cal State East Bay is partnering with Google to provide each student with a free e-mail account. Your account may be accessed
using your Net ID and password. Each student must check their Horizon e-mail regularly to receive important messages from
the University.

- Use your Cal State East Bay Horizon e-mail to check for important messages from the university, your professors and friends.
The Google e-mail service is a simple interface and works with the same Horizon e-mail address you have now.

- Cal State East Bay strives to provide the best service possible to students. The Google system offers new features including
indexed search, enhanced spam filtering, tagging capabilities for tracking e-mails, and an expanded 6-gigabyte storage capacity.

- No, your e-mail address will be the same as it is now.

How do I forward my Horizon mail to my personal e-mail account?
- To have your new Horizon e-mail forwarded to your personal e-mail account, set your forwarding preferences under "Settings."
If you previously had your e-mail forwarding set up, you will need to set it up again in the new Horizon system to have the same service.

I already have a personal Gmail account, do I still need the Horizon student e-mail?
- Yes, your Horizon student e-mail is not the same account as a personal Gmail account. You still need your Horizon student
e-mail account to receive official notices from the university and messages from your professors.

Can I forward my Horizon e-mail to another e-mail account of my choosing?
- Yes, you may forward your Horizon e-mail but if you do, the University cannot safeguard the privacy of your forwarded communications.

Will there be advertising inside my new e-mail account?
- No. You will not receive ads inside your new e-mail. You may select to receive RSS news feeds along the top bar of the message
window, or choose to turn off this feature.

Can I use other Google applications such as Calendar, Docs or Chat from my Horizon account?
- You may use the Calendar and Docs features, but the Chat feature is not available with Horizon student e-mail.

How do I access my messages from other e-mail programs using IMAP/POP?

You can access your new Horizon account from other e-mail programs. Go to the IMAP setup for Horizon instructions by clicking here.
To synchronize your password, go to http://www.csueastbay.edu/netid/. Click on 'Students,' then 'Change Your NetID Password'.
Check the checkbox marked 'Students: Check this box to synchronize.' This will synchronize your Horizon password with your NetID password. Your NetID password will be encrypted and sent to and stored at Google in encrypted format for secure login purposes.

- In order to check your official messages from the University, you must use the new Cal State East Bay Horizon student e-mail service powered by Google.

another e-mail address, the university cannot protect the privacy of your information.

- The browser minimum requirements are Internet Explorer Version 5.5, Firefox Version 1.5, and Netscape Navigator Version 8.0.

- No, you must not use ad blockers or script blockers, "e.g. Adblock and NoScript" with Horizon Student E-mail. Be sure to disable these features before you log in to Horizon.
