CSUEB Deployment Plan for Office 2007 and Vista
Office 2007 Enterprise and Windows Vista Enterprise will be deployed to the campus community starting this year. Due to the major changes between these new versions and previous versions of the Microsoft products (Office 2003 and Windows XP), there are some compatibility and configuration issues that need to be addressed. Therefore, ITS is strategically planning a deployment schedule which includes testing, access to documentation and training resources. Please see the tables below for details on the gradual roll-out schedule.
Since most CSUEB faculty need to work from home as well as from campus, ITS will centrally fund Work-At-Home licenses for faculty. Administrative departments may a choose to fund for staff who also need to work from home. For more information about Work-At-Home (WAH) go to the WAH website.
Note on Office 2007:
Files that are saved in Office 2007 are saved in a different format than older versions of Office. For example a Word 2003 file named test would be saved as test.doc while a Word 2007 file named test would be saved as test.docx. You can download the Compatibility Pack for Office 2007 which allows users on older versions of Office to view Office 2007 files. During the transition period those who are using Office 2007 can save their files in the older 97-2003 format so it’ll be easier to share files.
