More than 3,500 undergraduates and 1,300 post-graduate students were awarded degrees during five commencement ceremonies held between Friday evening, June 12, and Sunday afternoon, June 14, at the Hayward and Concord campuses of California State University, East Bay.
Three men who have distinguished themselves – one as a best-selling author, one as an Internet pioneer, and another who has supported the educational dreams of East Bay youngsters for six decades – were presented with honorary doctorates by CSUEB and the California State University system during the ceremonies.
* Khaled Hosseini, author of the international best-selling novel “The Kite Runner,” was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree during commencement ceremonies for the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. * Scott Kriens, chairman of the board for high-performance networking leader Juniper Networks, received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at ceremonies for the College of Business and Economics.
