HAYWARD, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team finished its season with a 2-0 loss to No. 16 Cal State LA on Sunday at Pioneer Field. The Pioneers honored seniors Britanie Strei and Carissa Martin on their last day in the Red and Black, and finish the season with a 3-14-3 overall record and a 2-13-2 mark in the CCAA.

The Golden Eagles opened scoring in the 25th minute, as Ann Marie Tangorra put her shot from 20 yards out into the back of the net. The goal was Tangorra's 10th of the season and gave Cal State LA the 1-0 lead.

Though the Golden Eagles out-shot East Bay 11-3 in the opening frame, the Pioneers created several quality chances in the half and forced LA keeper Jessie Walworth to make two stops. Walworth, however, maintained the shutout and took the one-goal lead into the half.

The second half saw more of the same from the Golden Eagles, who added a second score just five minutes into the final period. After bringing the ball to the top of the box, Gabbi Segall ripped a shot from 15 yards and found the back of the net to give LA the 2-0 lead.

Cal State East Bay notched another five shots in the second frame, forcing two saves from Walworth. The Eagles' keeper also got help from the woodwork when Pioneer sophomore midfielder Michelle Quintero nearly curled her shot into the back of the net in the 67th minute, but hit the post.

Walworth earned the win and the shutout with four saves, while freshman keeper Nina Cefalo made 12 saves and faced 24 shots in the loss. Kastidi Robles led the Golden Eagles with five shots, putting four on target, while junior midfielder Michelle Garcia paced the Pioneers with three strikes.

Sunday marked the final game for Strei and Martin, both four-year letterwinners at East Bay. Strei has been a fixture on the backline and made her presence felt in her final appearance, making a header save on the goal line in the second half. Martin has been a key reserve for the Pioneers this season and notched a shot on goal in 11 minutes on Sunday.
