Cal State East Bay senior Andrea Castellanos won the individual championship at the 2013 Sonoma State Invitational with a two-round total of 147 (+3) at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. Her second-round score of 73 (+1) was the lowest on the course on Oct. 22, propelling Castellanos to a two-stroke victory over Saint Edward's University's Haley Haught.

As a team, the CSUEB women's team finished in a tie for seventh place (with Chico State) out of 12 schools. The Pioneers followed up a 316 (+28) on Oct. 21, with a 315 (+27) a day later, giving them a total of 631 (+55) for the tournament. They were 17 strokes behind the team champions, California Baptist University, and just three strokes behind the host Seawolves.

For Castellanos, it's the first tournament championship of her four-year career. She has been CSUEB's top finisher in 11 tournaments and previously finished second overall at the 2013 Chico State Invitational and 2011 Cougar Invitational, hosted by CSU San Marcos. During the tournament, she did most of her damage on par-five holes, shooting four under par, which led the field. She also ranked second overall with 25 total pars.

Castellanos was the only Pioneer to shoot in the 70s in the action Oct. 22. Arielle Swan-Smith fired an 80 (+8) to finish at 159 (+15), which placed her in a tie for 24th overall.

Linda Brown shaved four strokes off her Oct. 21 score and also fired an 80 in the second round to finish at 164 (+20). Melissa Hosman carded an 85 (+13), which put her two-round total at 164 (+20) as well. The pair finished tied for 45th in the field of 70 golfers.

Ysabel Cabreira exhibited the best improvement from the first round to the second on the team. Her Oct. 22 score of 82 (+10) was eight strokes better than a day earlier and gave her a total of 172 (+28), good for 61st place.
