A beta version of Cal State East Bay’s new semester catalog of courses is now available after nearly two years of work by the university’s semester conversion team.
Sarah Aubert, lead curriculum services analyst for semester conversion, said the new catalog is fully searchable and includes more than 30 new concentration programs, additional majors and courses. In addition, each user will have an online folder where they can store information for future reference.
“There are features that have been added to make it more user-friendly, which we’re excited about,” Aubert said.
Some additional changes to the catalog are expected in the next few months and a final version will be available July 2, 2018, but Aubert said edits should be minimal and students can begin using the beta version now to start planning for 2018.
Most courses are a straight conversion to those offered on the quarter system, but faculty and departments have spent the better part of the past two years updating curriculum and taking a “serious look at what they’ve been offering and how they could reimagine their programs going forward,” Aubert said.
“This has been a collaborative effort among faculty, department staff, deans, academic programs and services, and all of our campus committees,” she said. “Everyone has worked diligently to really try and bring this together in a way that will be most helpful to our students.”
