Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues,” – with several actors not part of a previous cast – will perform Friday, April 30 on the Hayward campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd.

The 8 p.m. performance in the Physical Education Building Dance Studio, Room 140, will be in conjunction with V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of this play.

Ann Fajilan, assistant professor of theatre and dance, is organizing this performance, together with the student group Cultural Groups in Performance, L.A.T.I.N.A.S. (Ladies Actively Taking Initiative thorough Networking Academics and Social Justice) and PaF (Performing as Female).

Proceeds from the $5 admission will go to “Building Futures with Women and Children” in San Leandro. Seating is limited. For information contact Megumi Tembata, mtembata@horizon.csueastbay.edu or call theatre and dance at 510-885-3118.

In 2009, more than 4,200 V-Day benefit events were produced by volunteer activists in the U.S.and around the world.
