Professor of Political Science Kim Geron was interviewed by La Opinion, the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States, for an article on California gubernatorial candidate Steve Poizner’s recent stance on immigration.
In “Poizner la emprende contra indocumentados” (roughly translated as "Poizner takes on undocumented residents"), Geron said, “Poizner's offensive is an attempt to attract conservative votes because he is so far behind in the polls. He needs these votes in order to secure the nomination in the primary election and to show that he is truly conservative while making Meg Whitman appear as both liberal and not taking a tough enough stand against immigrants without documents.”
