Professor Emerita of International Management Loretta Graziano Breuning wrote an article, "Don't Blame the Politicians; why voters lie to themselves," for Psychology Today in which she encourages readers not to blame the government for the problems of the world. Read article.

“Politicians win our affection by encouraging our dreams,” Breuning says in her article. “Politicians want to please us, and we want them to please us. Government cannot make all our dreams come true. If voters expect politicians to fulfill all their wishes, they are asking to be lied to.”

Breuning has worked in Africa as a United Nations Volunteer and began studying the mammalian social brain after lecturing worldwide on bribery prevention. She has written previous books, including Greaseless: How to Thrive without Bribes in Developing Countries and I, Mammal: Why Your Brain Links Status and Happiness.
