Associated Students, Inc. will host Dr. Cornel West at Cal State East Bay on November 17 at 7pm in the University Theatre.

West is an American philosopher, author, critic, actor, civil rights activist and prominent member of the Democratic Socialists of America. He is best known for his combination of political and moral insight and criticism and his contribution to the post-1960s civil rights movement. The bulk of his work focuses on the role of race, gender, and class in American society and the means by which people act and react to their "radical conditionedness."

West is featured on the highly acclaimed program, The Smiley and West Radio Show. He also has a new memoir entitled Brother West: Living and Loving out Loud. He frequently appears on CNN, C-Span, The Colbert Report, the Bill Maher Show, and also on Tavis Smileys PBS TV show.
