Associate Professor of Management Daniel Martin took time from his sabbatical as a visiting associate professor at Stanford University (the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education) and visiting scholar at the UC Berkeley Center for the Study of Law and Society  to teach his Cal State East Bay Management 6225: Executive Leadership course at the Institute of Business and Economics (IBE), CSUEB's long-time partner in offering an MBA program to Moscow professionals.  The two week course held in early November covered a broad range of topics ranging from leadership self-awareness, employee motivation, satisfaction, and performance to mentoring the next generation of leaders. The students were predominantly mid to senior-level managers at multinational firms based in Moscow.

“We had a fantastic guest lecture from Aleksey Studnev at LifeStreet, a Silicon Valley based multinational advertising firm with offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg,” said Martin. “This led to a great class discussion on differences between situational leadership in start-ups vs. hierarchical multinational corporations.”  Martin works with the Moscow students on both sides of the Atlantic, having also lead a tour of San Francisco for graduating MBA students from IBE this past summer.

The Moscow MBA program offered by CSUEB and IBE recently celebrated its 18-year partnership. The program is a two-year evening MBA degree accredited by AACSB International, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger met with Edvard Goyzman, rector of the MBA program in October 2010. Read story.
