Every year, more than 60 percent of Cal State East Bay students rely on financial aid to pay for college. Many of those are scholarships funded by our generous donors to help make higher education a reality for students who cannot afford it on their own.

Cal State East Bay is still one of the most affordable colleges in the region — and, along with the great selection of majors and convenient locations, that’s what draws many students to attend. But when fees rise, especially on short notice, it’s hard to make ends meet.

This fall, senior Annie Fowler received an “SOS” scholarship to help cover the costs of recently raised tuition fees. As a single mom, Annie has a tight budget but finishing her degree is important to her future. Here’s what she had to say about the support she received from our donors:

Because of a decrease in state support, tuition fees are likely to rise again in 2012, and students like Annie will need your help to stay in school.

Make a gift to Cal State East Bay this month and you’ll be able to fund more scholarships for the students who need them most. It’s an investment in a great cause, it’s tax deductible, and as Annie says, it really is saving students.
