Cal State East Bay's Diversity Center will sponsor a campus screening of Miss Representation at 7 p.m. March 5 in the University Union, room 311. Refreshments will be provided.

The documentary premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and previously aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network. It exposes how media contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. Miss Representation features stories from teenage girls and interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics, including Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Rosario Dawson and Gloria Steinem. Student Life Advisor Megan Bebb will lead a discussion following the film screening.

The event is free and open to the public. For information, contact the CSUEB Diversity Center by phone at 510-885-7069 or by email asidiversitycenter@csueastbay.edu
