CSUEB will test its emergency notification system on May 30.

  • May 30, 2013 5:40am

A semi-annual test of AlertMe will be conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 12:00 p.m.  The Cal State East Bay campus should receive a test message on all of the contact modes they have updated in MyCSUEB, including phone, mobile text and email. Test alerts will also be released via the University's social media channels. To get alerts via social media, one must follow @CSUEBnews or @CalStateEastBay on Twitter and “like” Cal State East Bay on Facebook.

Campus safety is important to CSUEB and in an ongoing effort to provide the most effective and reliable ENS available important changes have been made.  AlertMe already delivers alerts and updates through a range of communication tools. Now, with more than 50 percent of adults using social media, CSUEB AlertMe has been expanded to deliver alerts to the CSUEB community in emergency situations using Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Man-made or natural, disasters are instantaneous, unpredictable and violent.  In times of crisis when seconds count, an effective and comprehensive Emergency Notification System (ENS) is needed.  CSUEB uses AlertMe, an emergency notification system, to communicate directly with students, faculty and staff. If an emergency occurs that affects the campus, you will receive notifications and emergency warnings by phone, text, and e-mail through the AlertMe system as part of CSUEB’s emergency communication program to help ensure everyone is kept informed and safe.

Just as a reminder, in case of an emergency, you should call 9-1-1 or dial ext. 53791 from any phone on campus. For questions regarding our Emergency Notification System, please contact Jim Hodges, Emergency Operations Center Commander at (510) 885-2250 or via e-mail james.hodges@csueastbay.edu.
