On Friday, Nov. 1, Cal State East Bay’s Concord Campus will host “Narrowing the Gap,” a conference presented by the Contra Costa County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The conference, which is scheduled from 9am to 2pm, is designed to expose local high school students to the advantages of obtaining a college education.
Nearly 400 students representing various high schools throughout Contra Costa County are expected to attend. Participants will rotate through a variety of sessions, meeting education and business professionals while familiarizing themselves with the college application process, sources of financial aid, and potential majors. Students will also receive university-donated backpacks packed with information about Cal State East Bay, with an emphasis on programs at the Concord Campus.
The Contra Costa County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce supports the community through its activities and programs in business development, education and advocacy. The November 1st event marks the third time the Chamber has held its educational conference at the Concord Campus. CSU East Bay staff and students have volunteered to assist with the event.
