Taught by nationally certified coders, Cal State East Bay’s Certificate in Medical Billing and Coding gives individuals interested in healthcare careers the necessary skills to obtain a position as a medical biller or coder in a hospital, medical clinic, physician's office, or insurance company.

The program runs from March 24 through June 18. Classes take place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at CSUEB’s Oakland Center.

Those who follow Cal State East Bay's certificate program with the suggested practical work experience may be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Exam, the Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice), the American Health Information Management Association's Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Exam and/or other national certification exams.
