Former employee Karen Seifert dies at 61

Karen Seifert, a former longtime Cal State East Bay employee, died Sunday, Oct. 19, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 61.

Friends and colleagues are invited to a celebration of her life at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 348 North Canyons Parkway in Livermore.

A resident of Castro Valley, Seifert served in administrative support positions at the university in departments from facilities to public safety and business and finance, including several years working for Dick Metz, former vice president for Administration and Business Affairs. She worked at CSUEB from February 1976 until April 1979 and again from July 1980 until February 1998, when she retired.

She was a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Seifert is survived by her husband Craig, daughter Kelley and son-in-law Monte Munoz of Livermore, Carla and Doug Goodyear of Arizona, David and Paula Seifert of Discovery Bay and eight grandchildren.
