Office moves ahead in coming weeks

  • November 7, 2008

Over the next six weeks, offices in six Hayward campus departments will be relocating as part of the university's move toward completion of capital projects in support of the master plan, according to the Office of Planning, Design and Construction.

The timing of the office relocations was prompted by the impending groundbreaking in early 2009 of the Recreation and Wellness Center and the opening later in 2009 of the Student Services and Administration (SSA) building, which is under construction adjacent to the Valley Business and Technology Center. The approximately 53,000-square-foot Recreation and Wellness Center will be located next to the current site of the Student Services Hub.

The following offices will move to new locations by the dates outlined below:

Upward Bound in the Student Services Hub (SSH) will move to the trailer marked ST80 by Nov. 10.

Environmental Health and Safety in SSH will move to the fieldhouse trailer by Nov. 13.

In the first phase, the American Language Program (ALP) in the ALP modular trailer will move to SSH by Nov. 21. The ALP modular trailer itself will be relocated near steps leading to the Science Building by Dec. 5.

Student Life in SSH will relocate to space on the second floor of the New University Union by Nov. 24.

Phase two of ALP will shift from SSH to the relocated ALP modular trailer by Dec. 15.

The ALP Language Lab in SSH is scheduled to move to Warren Hall B001 By Dec. 15.

University Advisement in SSH will relocate to the main library upper mall's east side by Dec. 19. Plans call for the office's eventual move to SSA in 2009.

Continuing and International Education in SSH will move to the Library 2550 by Dec. 19.

For some of the affected offices, the moves may not be permanent. Determination as to their eventual permanent relocation has yet to be determined.
