CSUEB Open During Job Action Wednesday

  • December 9, 2008

To all Cal State East Bay Students,

The United Auto Workers Local 4123 representing the Teaching Associates, Graduate Assistants and Undergraduate Instructional Student Assistants has voted to strike on campuses starting Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Cal State East Bay will remain open during this job action. Final exams, instruction and other student services will continue during this activity. As a public institution, CSUEB is obligated to do so.

Please keep in mind that you are expected to attend your scheduled final exams, turn in any assignments or papers and attend any other required University activities as scheduled. Cal State East Bay will continue to provide faculty for these events and activities.

Students who live in Pioneer Heights will have all usual services provided. The University Union, Library, and other student service centers will also remain open.

There may be picket lines at the campus entrances. You are allowed to cross picket lines to enter the campus if it is safe to do so. You may also choose an entrance that does not have a picket line. You are not obligated to provide the members of a picket line with your name or any other information. If you are harassed, report this incident immediately to the University Police Department (510-885-3791).

If you have any concerns surrounding job action activities, please contact Student Affairs.

Cal State East Bay remains committed to providing its students with the highest quality educational experience. Your understanding, cooperation, and patience during this difficult period of time are greatly appreciated.
