CSUEB’s Chemical Dependency Studies Program prepares participants for in-demand jobs

The need for trained substance abuse and behavioral counselors has increased in recent years, and Cal State East Bay’s Chemical Dependency Studies Certificate Program prepares participants for careers in this fast-growing field. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the employment of Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselors is projected to grow 31 percent by 2022 — nearly three times the average growth rate (11 percent) for all other occupations.

In addition to the Loan Signing Agent course, Cal State East Bay also offers a notary commission and notary commission renewal course.

When Ken Seto attended Cal State East Bay's Online Master of Science in Education, option in Online Teaching and Learning (MS-OTL) program’s 15th annual graduation celebration on the Hayward Campus in June, it wasn’t just about the usual pomp and circumstance. The celebration allowed Seto to finally meet, face-to-face, the classmates and instructors he had formed bonds with throughout the online program.

CSUEB’s Oakland Center will be expanding its facility and undergoing renovations through summer and is set to reopen in time for fall quarter.

CSUEB Oakland Center Closed for Expansion Project, Reopening in Fall

Cal State East Bay’s Oakland Center is currently undergoing an extensive expansion project to accommodate its growing number of visitors and offerings. In addition to the expansion, the original structure is being renovated to create an overall cohesive and modern feel between the old and new spaces. The Oakland Center will be closed and under construction for the remainder of summer and is set to reopen in fall 2015.

Cal State East Bay’s Certificate in Construction Management program, starting this fall, prepares participants for day-to-day challenges in the field, from managing subcontractors and cash flow to controlling costs and minimizing safety risks.

CSUEB to Re-launch Construction Management Certificate Program in Fall

After a three-year hiatus, Cal State East Bay will re-launch its Certificate in Construction Management starting this fall. The program, which first launched approximately 27 years ago, has been on hiatus from 2011 to 2014, but will return to meet the demands of the growing construction industry.

The event, honoring former ALP students who have matriculated into the university and will graduate from CSUEB in the 2014-15 academic year, celebrated 146 former ALP students — 120 with bachelor’s degrees and 26 with master’s degrees.

Blind CSUEB Student Pursues Passion for Opera Through International Exchange Program

Cal State East Bay student Brandon Keith Biggs, blind from birth, is getting to do exactly that. Currently studying abroad in Italy as part of an international exchange program, Biggs is the first blind CSUEB student to participate in a study abroad program.
