Grant Kien

Assistant Professor of Communication

Grant Kien (Ph.D. 2006 University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana) researches and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in new digital media studies, communication and cultural theory, and qualitative research methods. He has over 20 professional academic publications to his credit, including a full-length book (Global Technography, 2009), an edited volume (Post-Global Network and Everyday Life, 2010), an edited special issue of the scholarly journal Qualitative Inquiry focused on technology and qualitative research methods, and numerous ethnographic and theoretical scholarly journal articles and invited book chapters on the topic of new digital media and culture. He has participated in several National Science Foundation funding review panels in Washington DC, and has been an invited speaker at numerous international scholarly conferences.
