WELCOME to a new Quarter.

Just a few reminders, updates, and announcements of opportunities for you to consider:

1. Dear CSU East Bay Faculty, Deans, Staff and Students, 

The Faculty Affairs Committee (FAC) of the Academic Senate would like to announce the open call for nominations to four awards for exceptional faculty: 

  • Outstanding Scholar on Issues of Diversity, Social Justice and Multiculturalism
  • Community Activist
  • Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Students
  • Outstanding Researcher (1 tenured, 1 un-tenured)

FAC hopes that the entire campus community will participate in submitting nominations for CSUEB's most deserving faculty members. To view the call letter, criteria for eligibility and submission instructions, please download the attachment or follow this link to the Senate News and Elections web page:

The deadline for nomination submission is Friday April 4, 2014.

2.  Your Help is Needed:

Do you know a post-doc or faculty scholar who might be interested in helping us judge the CSU Systemwide Research Conference?  Jurors are particularly needed in the Behavioral (Psychology, Anthropology) and Social Sciences (Political Science, Sociology) areas.  The individuals may not be CSU faculty.  More information is available on the ATTACHED letter or contact:  Thank you.

Scholarly work takes its toll on the scholars' body as does the pace of teaching three classes. Back pain, fatigue, stress, and other physical manifestations are common. Come hear colleagues share their research and insights on preventative strategies and ways to manage the physical and emotional challenges of faculty life. ..RSVP

5. Carnegie National Outstanding Professor Competition:

Dear Colleague:

Nominate a professor today. Deadline: April 14

Visit the U.S. Professors of the Year website for additional information, including advice from institutions that have successfully nominated a winner.

Nominees compete with their peers in one of the following categories (based on the Carnegie classification of their institution):

  • Outstanding Baccalaureate Colleges Professor
  • Outstanding Community Colleges Professor
  • Outstanding Doctoral and Research Universities Professor
  • Outstanding Master’s Universities and Colleges Professor

Judges will select one national winner from each category. Plus, awards will also be given on the state level.

Nominations will be accepted through April 14, 2014. Each campus can nominate up to three professors.
