Meet the Director
Jillian Buckholz is the first Director of Sustainability on the California State University, East Bay campus. While Jillian is new to East Bay, she’s no stranger to working on campus sustainability issues. Prior to coming to The Bay, Jillian was the Senior Programs Coordinator at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) where she was responsible for the customer support, educational programming, and outreach associated with all AASHE programs. Before AASHE, Jillian was the first sustainability coordinator in the California State University (CSU) system at CSU, Chico. In this position she managed sustainability efforts across the campus; developed a campus-wide sustainability assessment; piloted the AASHE STARS campus sustainability rating program; and co-created SCOOP, an award winning on-campus office sustainability assessment tool. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Geography from Ohio University and a master’s degree in Geography and Planning from CSU, Chico.
