Developing Relationships

Starting a relationship in any respect requires hard work. Here at the Office of Career & Professional Development, we're all about establishing relationships with employers and the business community built upon a strong foundation of trust and communication.

Employer Services

Handshake is our campus-wide job board that is managed by Academic Advising and Career Education. Employers can register via Handshake's employer registration page and select Cal State East Bay as a posting destination. By using Handshake employers can reach a wider audience by making their postings visible to any academic major/program on campus. For more information about setting up an employer account, please visit the Employer Help Center Page.

Active email and social media marketing of employer openings to College of Business and Economics students based upon stated qualifications. These can include: specific concentrations/programs, class level (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior), GPA, location, etc.

Related to specific positions, students are required to attend a series of coaching workshops (typically resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and job search etiquette) before we share how students can apply to the position. This can result in students who are much better prepared for the application process.

An arranged employer brand building visit by up to 40 students accompanied by university chaperons to visit a company and learn more about the organization. This can also be paired with a coaching component where students are required to attend a prep workshop in order to qualify to attend.

Scheduling of presentations to Business-related student organizations. Please visit our CBE Student Organization page to view a description of all of eligible student organizations.

Arranged visits to classrooms that relate to the employers target audience. These presentations are typically between 15-20 minutes in duration.

A 45 minute to 1 hour long presentation on opportunities available at a company. Typically scheduled on either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 12:15-1:15pm during Fall or Spring semesters. These can also be live-streamed to reach a wider audience.

We arrange a table set up on campus for employers to meet students and share opportunities.
