What does an in person Freshman Orientation session look like?

Pioneer Day Experience

Our Freshman Pioneer Day Experience is a two-day experience at the Hayward Campus. Day one is tentatively scheduled for 10 AM - 4 PM, with check in beginning at 9 AM and day 2 is scheduled for 10 AM - 1 PM, with check in beginning at 9:30 AM. Students will spend the day with other new students and our orientation team leaders learning about important resources on campus, how to be a successful Pioneer, and build community! Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Pioneer Overnight Experience

The Pioneer Overnight Experience is a Pioneer Day Experience and more! It is a chance to meet other Pioneers in a smaller setting. If you want to maximize your orientation experience, get a feel for campus life, and have the opportunity to stay overnight in the residence halls, join us for our Pioneer Overnight Experience. The evening will be filled with exciting and engaging activities, chances to connect with your fellow incoming classmates, and an overnight stay in our Pioneer Heights housing.

Join us for this exciting opportunity! The overnight experience is a valuable opportunity for students who may be traveling from out of the area, as overnight lodging is provided. It's also a valuable opportunity for local Pioneers who will not have a chance to experience on-campus housing any other time! Space is limited and reservations will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis, so register quickly! A $65 overnight fee will cover the cost of housing and evening activities. The overnight fee will be due by the orientation date. Registration for freshman orientation automatically registers students for the overnight experience. If you would like to opt out of the overnight experience, please email us at orientation@csueastbay.edu.

What to bring for overnight sessions:
  • Toiletries
  • Linen (bed sheets, pillow cases, blanket, towel)
  • change of clothes for the next day
  • closed toed shoes for evening activities

What does an online Freshman Orientation session look like?

We understand that it may be difficult to come in person, however, we still want to get connected with you before you come to Cal State East Bay in the Fall! If you are not able to make the in-person Orientation session please register for the Online Freshman Orientation. These sessions will be 2-hours hosted via Zoom. Exact times are TBD. Registration will open up at the end of April.
