Private Learning Lab

The Private Learning Lab offers both a quiet, distraction-free environment for students and an opportunity for peer interaction and tutoring. Multimodal learning tools are available to help students master course concepts. Student Staff, who have experience working with individuals with disabilities, are available to assist with basic computer and Microsoft Office applications as well as tutor in specific subjects. Computers are equipped with:

  • Kurzweil 3000
  • JAWS
  • Inspiration
  • ZoomText
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking
  • SPSS and other subject specific programs

Assistive Technology

Project IMPACT offers assistive technology assessments and training. Assistive technology or accessible technology is defined as any device which helps a person with a disability accomplish daily tasks. Working closely with ATSO, Project IMPACT specializes in technology for the college environment such as:

  • "Text-to-Speech" Software
  • Voice Recognition software
  • Smart Pens and voice recorders
  • Visual mapping software
  • Screen reader software
